This Renaissance Revival building was built in 1883 for a syndicate of investors and owners to create a large business block. Originally planned to span five 20-foot lots, the owners of the sixth lot joined the group while the basement was being excavated. The current glass store front was installed for Silvers Department Store in 1945. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.
